Captain’s Blog 7 August
7 Aug
I had one of those days yesterday where everything panned out just as I had hoped. It all started when Pakistan won the toss at Edgbaston and decided to let England bowl. With this decision I decided that the 1.69 available on Betfair was tremendous value and I got heavily involved with a view to laying the bet off when a few early Pakistan wickets hopefully fell. I did not wait long for the first wicket and then an hour later four more had fallen and the price on England to win the game had collapsed to 1.06. I laid off and headed to Tesco satisfied with my mornings work. Tesco can be a frustrating place to be at the best of times but with a spring in my step I seemed to find what I wanted when I wanted and did not have to stand in line at a checkout for ages. Top shopping and the whole thing only took 15 minutes or so. I then headed to the Gym and completed a 10km run before coming home and waiting for my Blog selection to run at Newmarket. Tyfos was the horse and in line with the charmed day I was enjoying duly won at 9/1. A superb and lucky day that I topped off with a few celebratory beers.
Back to reality today with a day off to watch St Helens paly Leeds in the Challenge Cup semi final this afternoon. Games between these two teams are always fierce and with a place in the final at Wembley at stake this could be a cracker. In truth most of our day will be planned around watching this. We may head to the gym this morning and then settle down nervously for the game. If only some of the luck I had yesterday would rub off on my day today!
There is some good Racing on Racing Uk today and I urge you to join the team for Mark Your Card at 12.30 for an extensive preview of all that is to come this afternoon. For now though I am going to bid you farewell and wish you luck today. I will be back on Monday with a few more thoughts. Take it easy out there.
