Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood is upon us and it is all live on Racing UK. I am in the booth once again for the duration helping out with the five meetings that we have for you today. I must admit I am a little tired this morning after a late finish last night, but I have a day off tomorrow so I will be digging deep to get through the day. There is some good racing for me to focus on as well.
The Richmond Stakes is one of the feature events on the card and I am very keen on Libranno. He ran a big speed figure at Newmarket last time and hails from the all conquering Richard Hannon yard. In truth the race has cut up a bit and I think Libranno will be able to dominate from the front much as he did at Newmarket last time. He is best priced this morning at 11/8 with Ladbrokes which looks fair enough. The main danger is that he falls over or gets trouble in running. Yes I am bullish about this horses chances, and I do think it likely that he will start at even money or even a shade of odds on. He rates the best bet of the day.
I did manage to get to the gym yesterday morning and am planning on doing the same today, that is if I can find enough motivation. I am a bit stiff and sore after yesterday so it will have to be a gentle session, but something is better than nothing I guess and they do make decent coffee in the restaurant which is incentive enough to try and drag my ageing body through another workout.
It was good to hear that Age of Aquarius is going to survive after suffering ligament damage yesterday in the Goodwood Cup. He was pulled up sharply after going wrong coming down the hill. It is irrelevant but I think he would have won with his head in his chest and was just beginning to stretch them when he suffered the injury. It is a shame because the injury took a deal of gloss away from the victory of Illustrious Blue, but with the best will in the world this horse is no champion. It was just possible that Age of Aquarius could ahve become the new Yeats. I am certain illustrious Blue is not the new Yeats but well done to William Kjight and connections nonetheless.
Time for me to pull the plug for another day folks. Just the one bet today. Good luck.
